2008 New Years Eve - Part 1

Here's some shots of our "fundo" New Years Eve celebration! One of my favorite memories of New Years Eve's growing up was all the little finger foods...and the chocolate fondue for dessert. This is the second year we've done it...and the kids LOVE it....sadly, Ashten missed out on the fun..I can't believe she's old enough to go out on New Years Eve.....

Christmas Day

Christmas Day was full of chaos as usual...but it was wonderful. I love having everyone over throuhout the day....and being able to spend the day with my sis was great!

Miss you RRI!

Christmas Eve

Another Christmas Eve is behind us.....and once again the kids had a blast. I wish I had their energy. This year was extra special because we had the newest little Healy with us! Welcome to Christmas Lil.

Allie's 13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, they grow up so fast. Allie was quite excited with her Twilight/Jonas Brothers themed gifts this year!

A very busy day!

Well, we had a very busy day today. The kids woke me up to tell me it was time to put the lights on the tree....even though it's Mark's year for lights, they were still excited! We spent most of the morning putting the ornaments on..and now I'm hoping they stay on...please D's leave them alone this year :-)

Then, to make the day even better for them, I packed them into the car and headed down to Tower City so they could see the Nutcracker Fairy Godmother show down there. I have to say that Dermot is not like his sisters were at that age....he was hugging every character he even came close to!

Tree Shopping

We decided that we should get a live tree this year...hoping that Jonas would pay less attention to it because of the prickly needles. Today started off with the best of intentions. We were going to go out to the tree farm and cut down our own tree. Well, things don't always work out the way we intend them to, but the kids had their hearts set on getting the tree today, so we went tree shopping anyway. They had a great time running through rows and rows of trees trying to find just the best one.

Deirdre actually found a small "homeless tree" as she called it, and dug in her heels..that was the one she wanted. Well, we didn't end up with the exact one she wanted...but as far as she's concerned...she picked out the tree :-)

Dermot..once again asleep on the couch

Dermot just loves sleeping on the couch...takes after his Momma that way. :-)

Ok...this kid is too smart....

There's no picture to accompany this post....but for all those out there who wondered whether or not Deirdre was really reading when she sits down with a book vs. having it memorized.....please wonder no more.

She was sitting with me just now...watching the clip of the news story from last night...and read about 10 of the blog entries I had written.

I am always dumbfounded by her mental prowess..but this took the cake.

A star is born!

Deirdre's class was featured on the news last night in a story about "kindergarden stress" ...she was so very excited..she is now convinced this will make her famous, and she'll be able to buy a mansion...must be nice to be 5. :-)

St. Nick came on time this year!

My kids were shocked.....St. Nick actually made it to our house on the right night (I think!). I never seem to remember when he's supposed to come, so I have convinced them that St. Nick isn't quite as good as Santa, and it takes him 2 nights to get to everyone's house. :-)

I think that Dermot and Allie were the most excited by their gift this year. Dermot with a puzzle which he spent most of the day "putting together", and Allie with her books on the Jonas Brothers and that guy that plays Edward in Twilight..whatever his name is.

St. Nicholas Day

I was very glad that someone took pictures of "St. Nick" coming to our house on Tuesday since I was at work and had to miss it!

2008 Decking the halls

The kids were dying to start decorating for Christmas. This year for the first time in a long time, I put out some of my village. I decided not to light them as I was afraid Jonas would play with the cords and knock them down.Sadly I still have 2 boxes of houses in the attic that remain in boxes...but I still have time. :-)

Thanksgiving 2008

Michael & Rachel's Shower

What a great day. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous driving to the shower today...but Michael's Mom and Grandma were exactly as I remembered them...very warm and welcoming people. Let me tell you....it was ..... well I can't seem to find the right word...amazing seeing Michael again. If I hadn't seen pictures of him, I would be hard pressed to recognize the boy I knew in the man he has become. He has grown into a wonderful young man...just as warm as his family. His fiance Rachel is a really sweet girl, and together they make a great couple. The girls and I had a really nice time at the shower....Deirdre even won a prize for decorating a onsie.

More pictures from the shower can be found here:

Lillia's November visit

Deirdre loves her little cousin.

My favoriate picture....Lillia loves her Uncle Mark

A trip to the circus!

Beeka and Grandpa Len took Deirdre and Dermot to the circus yesterday. They got to go early and see the animals and clowns right in the center ring. Here's the pictures of their adventure.

Deirdre loses her first tooth. :-(

Nooooooooooooooooooooo, another difinitive sign that the little ones aren't so little anymore.

Beeka and Grandpa Len came to pick up the Ds to take them to the circus, and Deirdre was worried that her tooth was so loose she'd lose it while they were gone. So she enlisted Beeka's help, and out it came.

Happy Halloween

The kids were really excited about trick or treating. Dermot got to go over to Lakewood Hospital with his class and trick or treat there...so he had 1/2 a bucket of candy already when I picked hiim up!

Poor Deirdre had a cold bad enough that her eyes were weepy, so we had to keep her home from school and she missed their fall festival..but at least it wasn't so bad she missed out on the night time fun.

Maddie and Aaron joined us this year for our outing. We ended up going out in Renee's neighborhood this year...then over to Auntie Judy and Grandma T's house...and for an extra bit of fun..the kids got to trick or treat to their Daddy at our house where he and Pat were handing out candy.

They were so excited about getting candy from their Uncle, that one of them walked right through the screen door. We still can't figure out which one it was...but fortunatly, they didn't break it. Mark had already started taking it out so that he could put the glass in for winter.

Were We a good lookin crew or what?

2008 Pumpkin Party!

Well, tonight was our annual pumpkin carving party with Auntie Debbie...as usual it was chaos...but so much fun. I have to say that Deb went above and beyond with her pumpkin this year...it looks awsome, just like you'd see on TV. Ashten of course pretended she was an ax murder and hacked away with a carving knife.

We tried some "gourmet" seeds this year..soaked in soy sauce..I was the only one who liked them.

It's time to make the cookies

Deirdre and Dermot just love cookies....especially when they get to make them themselves!

It's kind of difficult to tell, but Deirdre gets more flour on her face then there is on the table!
