Lordy Lordy Sherri's 40 :-D

Deb, Ma, and I set off to St. Louis to surprise Sherri and help her celebrate her 40th birthday.

Well, I poo pooed everyone who wanted to know what we'd do if she wasn't home when we arrived in town....and lo and behold what happened? She left to go shopping about 10 minutes before we were to arrive at her house. We actually passed her on the street while I was on the phone with her.

We got her home, and wonder of wonders she still had no idea that we were there. She took one look at the car pulling in her driveway we me, Deb, and Ma and started to bawl.

We had a fun night meeting all of Sherri's friends at the surprise party that had been arranged for her. It's nice to know that she has so many good friends down there.

Once upon a time, when Deb and I visited out of the area, we always used to go to the out of town K Mart....so this trip it was the out of town Costco!

Well, I had forgotten how wild RRI can be....until last night...below you'll find the G rated pictures!

All in all it was a great trip and I"m so glad I went.

A message from RRI

See how happy i am

A day of goodies for RRI

Even though this delivery was from me...I'm jealous....I love those cookies....stupid Missouri :-(

Sherri's beautiful flowers

It's hard to believe that RRI will be 40 on Sunday. Here's a pic of the beautiful flowers she got today to celebrate!

Day two visiting with Lil.

Well, happily the kids got to spend some more time with their Uncle and cousin today. I think that after a couple of hours with the Ohio Healys little Lil probably needed a nap. :-)

Lil (and Den) come to town!!!

Sadly, I was at work when Lil and Den arrived, but as usual everyone was very excited to see them both!
This trip Lil was able to meet her cousin Debbie, who had just missed them the last time they came to town.

Although the kids were sad when it was time for them to leave....they can't wait until they get to see their newest cousin (and of course her Dad) tomorrow.

LHS instills pride

I realize that these are not exactly kid pics...but tonight was the open house at the high school for Ashten. As we pulled up, the front lawn of tne school was covered in flags. Ashten explained that the flags were in memory of all the people who lost their lives on that fateful 9/11 7 years ago. Tomorrow at the school is civic pride day or something like that and there were signs up all over the shool encouraging the kids to remember....

I was moved by the fact that the school did this, and what they are trying to instill in our kids.

If you're the praying kind....

I'd ask that you say a prayer right now for our neighbors Shirley and Lynn Miller.

This family has been struck by one tragedy after another for the past year, and sadly this evening the family patriarch Robert passed away.

The Millers have been great neighbors since the day we moved in....actually even before when Carey came over to introduce himself as we were looking at the house with the realtor.

They are a truely kind and welcoming family, and we are all saddend by their loss.

So although I know that no one that reads this will know them.......please keep them in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.

An eventful Friday

Well, it was an eventful Friday for the Ohio Healy Clan.

Ashten and her friends found 4 stray kittens in the middle of Madison Avenue a few days ago, and they managed to find homes for all but this little guy. Not being heartless, I said that he could stay.....outside....until we could figure out what to do with him. Ashten and Allie were vehemently opposed to taking him to a shelter..saying it was just like "pancake" all over again.

Deb came over and helped them fix him up a warm place to sleep with some shelter, and we fed him and gave him some water.

I should have known I was in trouble when Mark arrived home from work the next morning with a bag of kitten chow. But outside he stayed. Then of course I felt bad because he had fleas and mites, and I didn't want the poor little thing to suffer.. so I sent Ashten off to the store to buy the stuff that our vet had recommended to Mark when he had called to find out what it would cost to keep the little guy.

Well, when we checked the weather last night and found out it was going to storm today, I knew I would cave. Ashten's friends had named him Oliver....well none of us really cared for that. Mark had taken to calling him "big dummy" because he liked to sleep on the truck tire and didn't like to get out of the way when we needed to drive...which Beeka nixed. Deirdre wanted to call him Tommy after Tom in what else? Tom and Jerry. Next up for consideration.. Grady.. I think the logic was that this little thing was climbing my porch screen trying to get into the house, and Grady Sizemore climbs walls? The name that they all finally agreed on was Jonas. As far as Mark's concerned it's from some obsure bands song.. My Name is Jonas...and well, you know what the kids think it's after.

The end result is the same..we now have a new member of our family...meet Jonas. Biscuit is NOT and I repeat NOT happy about the new addition to our household. I haven't seen their interactions yet, but according to Mark, it's not pretty....lots of hissing and meowing. And Jonas had the NERVE to try and go into our room.....oh no, this is not going to be a good scene.

But he's a cutie isn't he?

And speaking of cuties....today was the first Ranger's home game..and Allie and Ashten were off in the rain to cheer our team on! Here they are sporting their "war paint"... and Deirdre..being Deridre decided that since she is oficiallly a Ranger now too, should be included in their game day pic!

It's Buckeye Time!

I know this is almost a week late...but hey it's been a busy week around here!

Mark and Dermot were very excited for the Buckeye game last Saturday, as evidenced by their sporting of the "7". After the game they went for a bike ride, and apparently a passing car saw Dermot riding away in his OSU jersey and shouted out of his windows "Go Buckeyes" to which Dermot resonded "O H".....the guy didn't get it though and drove off without the required "I O".
