School Days School Days, it's the first day of school day...

Where did the summer go.....geez where have the years gone. Nothing makes me feel older then the first day of school. This year was especially poingent as Deirdre walked out the door for her first day of Kindergarden.

So where are we at?

Asthen is a Junior - can you believe it?
Alexandra is in 7th grade -- geesh
Deirdre started Kindergarden -- unreal
Dermot - is now officially in Pre-K -- my last little one -- next year will really suck.

1st (weekly, monthly, quarterly yearly????? only time will tell) Adventure Day

It's been a very busy weekend around here. Yesterday we celebrated my 29th birthday by hitting Steelyard Commons for some back to school shopping. Much to Dermot's dismay, it was a girls day out with me, the girls, Grandma Ginny, and Auntie Debbie.

The girls found their new favoriate apparel store ..Rue21..and Asthent liked it so much, she even applied for a job on the spot. While Steelyard Commons is not necessarily my first choice of shopping area for er to work at ...a job is a job, so I'll keep my fingers crosse.d

Today, I decided that I wanted everyone out from in front of the TV, so I called up Auntie Debbie, and off we went.

We started off at the NASA Glen visitors center. They had a really cool movie about working and living in space that the kids just loved, and then thy got to see all kinds of cool stuff about the space program, Right now Deirdre and Dermot are enyoying their "Astronaut Ice Cream".

(If you click the slideshow below, it will take you into the photo album itself)

Next, since we were so close, we headed to the Rocky River Nature center. We took the kids on one of the hiking trails While Deb and I waited at the bottom, they made the treck up the 15 story staircaise to look at the birds eye view of the valley. They said it was really pretty, I'll take their word for it.

Ashten was a bit worn out after all that climbing, so we stopped at the outdoor ampitheater, and the kids all took their turn putting on a mini show for us while we rested.

Inside the nature center, they of course loved all of the tactile exhibits.

By this time of course, everyone was starving, so we hit Steak N Shake on the way home for dinner. All in all, it was a really fun day.

Dermot's sleepover!

Looks like Dermot is having a blast at his first sleep over with Beeka and Grandpa Len!

Although poor Deridre is going through withdrawl and is walking around the house crying "I want my brother"

Take me out to the ball game......

...take me out with the crowd. A day for the history books, the Healys ventured out with the whole clan. We took the kids to the Captain's game last night at Classic park in Eastlake, and the kids had a great time. Although, as you can see, Dermot felt the need for a little nap to gear up for gametime!

However, once we got into the park, he couldn't have been happier to be there.

This picture to me is classic. Do you notice anything? Yep, that's right, it only took 17 years, but Ashten has finally overcome her fear of "mascots". It was actually her idea to take Deirdre down to see Skipper. Not only did she pose for a picture, but she gave him a hug and a high 5!

Deirdre spent the first few innings of the game doing nothing but screaming "Go Captains" at the top of her lungs, and dancing like crazy. Although all of that screaming and shaking did help us to win 9 free coupons for Dairy Queen shakes....too bad it was only for the Dairy Queens out near the ball park. We gave them to the family behind us who had also tried to win, but didn't have the benefit of our little Deda.

Even at the ball park, we were not ammune to Jonas Fever. The girls got a "call" from the bros on Ashten's cell phone, and of course, they had to take it.

More than the game though, the kids loved watching the fireworks at the end. While Ash and Al have been to Lakewood Park on the 4th and seen some up close, the little ones have never been closer then Grandma T's porch. They had them synchronized to songs from Star Wars and Superman, and they were in awe.

This one however freaked Allie out a bit, When they lit the US Bank sign, she didn't realize it was part of the display and was like "Mom, that bank sign is on fire overthere!"

All in all, a good time was had by everyone.

All the pics from the game are at the link below.

Swimming Lessons

One nice thing about this vacation is that I was able to go see Deirdre's swimming lesson this morning.
Based on what I saw, I don't have a confident feeling that she is going to pass her end of session test, but who cares, she's having a blast and learning to love the water.

A day away.

Well, we finally made it away, all be it for only a little over 24 hours, but it was fun. Sadly, thanks to the weather in Chicago, our flight to MO was cancelled, and we couldn't get another flight that would have been a good flight out and still have time to spend with RRI and the kids. So we ended up in Erie PA at a Sea Wolves Game. We had awsome seats (although in a tiny ball park like that they are all pretty good seats. But between the blaring sun, my headache, and the mentally ill person behind us that kept screaming "Go.ggggggg go ggo ggo ggo ggo" everytime someone was up to bat, we ended up leaving the game early.

The hotel we stayed at in Findly Lakes NY was literally in the middle of nowhere. As it was a Holiday Inn Express, there wasn't even a lounge to visit in the evening, so that meant a trip to the only store in the area that sold beer.

That evening we went to the casino in Erie. Needless to say, we didn't win, although Mark was much luckier then I, he played on the same $15 for about 2 hours.

Time to Practice

Friday night was time to practice for the wedding. Dermot was quite honked off that he wasn't getting to wear his tux to this event!

It was a nice evening. Dermot, Grandma T and I went together and met everyone at the church, then we headed to Mario Fazio's for dinner.
